Spotify mobile app

Spotify rolled out a major update to refine the view of “Your Library” in its mobile app. But this update is only for premium subscribers. The new update separates Music and Podcast from each other making it user-friendly and accessible. It is simpler to get started and to stay updated giving you a personalised experience. Prior to this update, Spotify provided a podcasts entry in a list that included mostly music related items like playlist, songs, albums, artists and more.

In new version dedicated tabs are given for both Music and Podcasts making it easy to toggle between the two. Inside the Music tab, you can see Playlists, Artists, and Albums tabs, while Podcasts tab has Episodes, Downloads and, Shows.

Music:

Playlist: The songs you listen to are added to a playlist along with the liked songs and playlists you create. A download option is given to listening to songs when offline.

Artists: It shows a list of artists and to add one in this section just follow the artist.

Album: While playing songs in the playlist if you liked a particular album, it will be saved in this section.

Podcasts:

Episodes: It shows new podcasts along with the one you follow and previously listened podcasts to resume it where you left.

Downloads: You can listen to the podcasts you have downloaded when offline.

Shows: Podcasts you follow or listen most frequently are organized in this tab.

Users do not need to worry about the previously saved music as the redesign will retain the saved data. This redesign comes with few other changes. Spotify has created a new automatic playlist called Liked Songs which you can see in the Playlists view containing all the existing and past liked songs. Another change which Spotify made is it launched a new playlist called “Your Daily Drive”. This gives the experience of listening to the radio.

Turn your “scopes” into talk show with Periscope latest feature

periscope

We know what you are thinking- another social media app? Before you dismiss it, be known that Periscope is rival for every platform before it. The founders of Periscope wanted to build a closest thing to teleportation. And periscope is the one! Though the startup behind the app was purchased by Twitter in 2015, the use of periscope is quite addictive and an experience unlike any other.

The instant broadcasting channel in your pocket anytime and anywhere- Periscope is soon going to feel less one sided. On February 4, the Twitter owned periscope shared a new feature that allows broadcaster to bring conversation with unseen participants to standard Periscope stream.

Periscope users can now invite guests onto their stream. The feature seems to bring out deeper interaction with viewers audience. Broadcasters can go live with guests and invite anyone to join. Your guest can be heard by everyone and can drop off at anytime. This gets more interesting as multiple people can have a conversation together and share it with world.

Last September, periscope launched audio-only broadcast, but the latest feature seems to be building that out a bit. You may feel the vibe of radio talk after actually using the feature. And why not, this feature gives opportunity to viewer to really become part of what’s happening or contribute to the broadcast.

Though this feature sits immovably in its experimentation stage, yet they need to perceive how Periscope clients react so they’re sending it out to all iOS and Android clients. On desktop, you’ll have the capacity to tune in to the streams but you can’t participate just yet. The company says that it’s hoping to convey video-sharing to this feature and is playing with these audio call-ins going to the main Twitter application sooner or later in coming future.
